JMAP: email in modern technology
Souvera Mail talks to your mail server via JMAP (RFC 8620) – the modern email standard by the Internet Engineering Task Force. Instead of the decades-old combination of IMAP and SMTP, a single protocol handles mailbox, sending, search and push – noticeably faster, more secure and more efficient.
Push instead of polling
The mail server initiates changes itself – the app no longer has to poll. New emails appear instantly, without unnecessary traffic.
Incremental sync
JMAP only transfers the changes since the last sync – no more full folder downloads. Mailboxes open in milliseconds.
One protocol for everything
Fetching, sending, folders, flags and search run over a single encrypted connection – fewer requests, fewer failure points.
Server-side search
Full-text search runs on the mail server across your entire mailbox – no local index, no download wait, even on your phone.
Secure by default
JMAP works exclusively over HTTPS with token-based authentication – passwords are never transmitted in plain text.

New users are automatically guided by the import wizard on first launch – the complete contents of the old mailbox move along.

The import continues server-side – you may close the window, the progress stays visible.

Your old provider's password is discarded immediately after the start and is never stored permanently.
